Site work could begin soon on a long-planned 53-story Midtown condo tower along 14th Street — yet it’s unclear when vertical construction on the project would start.

The city of Atlanta has issued a land development permit for the project called No. 2 Opus Place, according to its development and design team, which includes Olympia Heights Management and architect Perkins + Will. They applied for the permit in March, according to city records.

Atlanta civil engineering company Reeves Young has been hired for excavation of the four-acre site. It could begin in about two weeks, said Karen Rodriguez, with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices CITY HAUS division. The work could take at least four months because of the large amount of stone underneath the site.
